Naples to Ortanto

After doing a little reading and discussing with my partner, we thought maybe a trip from Naples in Campania across the arch of the boot to Ortanto in Puglia would be a varied and memorable trip. Naples known to be gritty and perhaps even a little misunderstood will sure to please. Filled with ruins, glorious churches and seaside castles along with the city hustle and bustle and a few hometown cocky baristas!

We would definitely have to take in the ruins at Pompeii. I love history so imagining the daily life and all its highs and lows will keep me intrigued and mystified not to mention the tragedy that took Pompeii in the blink of an eye. From there we will likely visit a few of the towns and cities making our way to Puglia. One stop for sure to make is the mysterious Matera known for its cave dwellings. I can’t imagine living this way but people did up until the late 1950’s, shocking really.

While travelling Puglia we would like to stop in Alberobello, a small town known for its characteristic cone shaped stone homes called trulli. Perhaps Vieste with is white sandy beaches and medieval backstreets.  Then there is Bari, the hip university city, Brindisi the laid back beach town, Leece known for its unique and baroque architecture and onto Ortanto where we could take in some snorkeling or perhaps a jump off a rock into the azure Adriatic sea.

So much to do and see. We have much to discuss as we build our itinerary. As we become more knowledgeable about the area, we will choose our trip so as not to waste a single minute.
